Letters in Economic Research Updates welcomes the submission of concise, high-quality research articles that make significant contributions to the field of economics. Authors are encouraged to submit letters that present new insights, innovative approaches, or highlight emerging trends in economic theory, policy, and practice. This section provides essential guidelines for submitting manuscripts to ensure the smooth processing and publication of articles.
Types of Manuscripts Accepted
We publish a variety of short articles, including:
Research Letters: Brief reports of original research findings.
Review Letters: Short reviews or commentaries on current economic debates or literature.
Policy Insights: Letters presenting policy recommendations or critiques based on economic research.
Letters to the Editor: Commentary on previously published research in the journal.
All submissions should be concise, with a maximum word count of 2,500 words, including references. Tables, figures, and appendices should be kept to a minimum. Authors are encouraged to submit clear, accessible, and rigorous research that is relevant to current economic issues.
Submission Process
Online Submission: All manuscripts must be submitted through the journal’s online submission system. Authors should create an account, upload their manuscript, and provide all required information.
Cover Letter: A brief cover letter (maximum 300 words) should accompany the manuscript, including:
- A statement of originality and that the manuscript has not been previously published or submitted elsewhere.
- A description of the manuscript's significance and relevance to the field of economics.
- Any conflicts of interest or funding sources related to the research.
Manuscript Preparation:
- The manuscript should be submitted in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format.
- A title page should be included with the manuscript, containing the title of the article, authors' names, affiliations, and corresponding author details (including email).
- The article itself should follow the APA citation style. In-text citations should be formatted as follows: (Author, year).
Abstract: The manuscript should include a concise abstract (150-200 words) summarizing the research question, methodology, key findings, and implications.
Keywords: Include 3-5 keywords that represent the focus of the article.
Figures and Tables: Figures and tables should be embedded within the manuscript. Each table or figure must be numbered consecutively and accompanied by a descriptive caption. Authors must provide high-resolution images for any graphics or figures.
References: All references cited in the text should be listed at the end of the manuscript, and formatted according to APA style. Please ensure that all references are complete and accurate.
Review and Publication Process
1. Peer Review: All submitted manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer review process, where both the authors and reviewers are anonymous. Authors will typically receive feedback within 3-4 weeks of submission.
2. Revisions: If revisions are requested, authors are required to submit a revised version within 4 weeks. A detailed response to reviewers' comments must accompany the revised manuscript.
3. Acceptance: Manuscripts that pass peer review will be accepted for publication. Accepted manuscripts will be published online ahead of print, and the final version will appear in the next issue of the journal.
4. Proofs: Authors will receive proofs of their accepted manuscript to check for any errors before publication. Proof corrections should be returned within 48 hours.
Ethical Guidelines
Authors must ensure their research adheres to ethical standards:
• Originality: Submitted manuscripts must be original and not under consideration elsewhere. Plagiarism will result in immediate rejection.
• Data Integrity: Authors must ensure that all data presented in their manuscript is accurate, and they must disclose any potential conflicts of interest related to the research.
• Human and Animal Rights: If the research involves human participants or animals, authors must follow appropriate ethical guidelines and provide approval from relevant ethics committees.
Copyright and Open Access
Upon acceptance, the author agrees to grant the journal the right to publish the article. Letters in Economic Research Updates is an open-access journal, meaning that all published articles are freely available to readers. Authors are permitted to share their work publicly, provided they cite the journal as the original publisher. Fees
There are no submission fees for manuscripts. However, upon acceptance, authors may be asked to contribute a publication fee of 1019 USD. Details of the publication fee will be provided upon acceptance.
